P4

Lessons learnt and implemented into the work below

I had learnt a lot in figuring out the various paths I could take such as knowing that the Diploma that I have obtained from Long Road would not be enough to get a job in the games industry, so I thought that instead of going an applying to these roles I would try and obtain a unpaid internship until I go to Uni, this is successful would be a major advantage however is not essential to getting where I would like to go. I also decided that based on my current skills gained from Long road that once I have gone to Uni this degree could also help me with getting a job in Graphics design.
I also realised that creating my own studio would be next to impossible, unless it was created while I was at Uni with some of the students there, who would be as passionate as me in creating these games together.

Changes to paths based on P3 evaluation and resources:

Internship: I need to use contacts that I already have such as family and college to help with getting the internship.
Own Studio: This is the most difficult path and could only be achieved after Uni or making games in my spare time to work on this. This is because I lack the resources and contacts to create such as company now and I would get some during/after University.

First target is the securing a place for Uni.
Second target is graduating
Third is getting a job in the industry.
ENVIRONMENT ARTIST
For this I would like to get a Job in a mid sized games studio, as a Environment artist
To get this I am going to go to Uni and study games art which will give me a understanding of various software packages and develop myself as a creative individual.
To get into Uni I will need to get help from lots of people, ranging from my teachers at Long road to help create a portfolio. Or my progress coach who can help me with the personal statement and apply via UCAS.
I will also need support from my parents to help pay and get to various interviews and open days
I will know if i’m successful in this goal when:
I have my degree in games art
I have obtained a Job in a mid sized studio as a Environment artist
First target is the securing a place for Uni.
Second target is graduating
Third is getting a job in the industry.

Using resources to fill gaps I found in P2:

Problem
Solutions based on resources
Getting an internship in Cambridge
Possibly use family to see if they have any co-workers or friends in the games or design industry who could help with getting an internship
Working in large groups
I can use college to do a group project with others
Speaking clearly and to strangers
I can use games with voice chat to force myself to talk to people who I don’t know.
Accommodation (In London)
I can use my step dad who is from London to help me with selecting the right place to live whilst at Uni, as he has knowledge of the local area.
